Simplicity
04:13
|
|||
Raindrops on a window, or at least I hear the sound
Because my eyes are taken prisoner by another sight I found
As the days tick of a journey pressed to fit a smaller time
Than the moments that will linger in my mind
Wheels that turn while windows burn the frost against the glass
As the music blares to blind the glares of souls at crossing paths
I am reaching, I am reaching for a sign
And I’m frightened by the potency of this wine
Simplicity
Is eluding me
Its what I told myself was best
But something’s gone and laid simplicity to rest
On a market road they pulled out from another time
I am lost in conversation, as the sun begins its climb
Down to just the right refraction to illuminate our lives
And I throw a rope around it to freeze a moment
I am never at a loss for words
I never want for wit
But these are foreign fabrics
To make a foreign gown
That I’m drawn to
Early morning hazes keep me safe until I’m high
Up above the clouds to look back down into a stunning eye
That I‘m telling so much more than I had planned
I am wondering, and suddenly can’t stand
Simplicity
I’d toss you free
I was fine by your design
Simplicity, I called you mine
But now I’ve landed, and tossed you in the sea
Circumstance is just a trance
And when I wake, the miles could be gone

Prague
05:05
|

In Prague, they walk about
In Prague, they sit
I walked the streets of Prague
For a raindrop full of wit
Too bad to know it’s only water
Your spires only stone
In Prague, they’re dancing in the moonlight
And I’m alone
And the world will fall, or the world will see
How each thing was meant to be.
All the dangers new, how the time it flew
But life went on, life goes on.
In Prague I turned a corner
Looking for someone I knew
Something I hadn’t seen in minutes
How the years they flew
I turn my head up to the skyline
I press my feet into the stone
In Prague I finally found the answer
Dancing alone
That I might fall, if I can’t see
How this city was built to be
I was blinded right, by a finer light
But your stone pathways gave me back my sight
Oh you walk between two worlds
The wistful old, and searing new
Oh your bullet-ridden statues
Remind me of how far you’ve come
And prague...
You might fall, before they see
Your bridges crumble that rescued me
But I will keep all your peaceful sleep
And I’ll remember what you said to me
And so, you’ll stay here Prague
Cause’ you’re afraid to leave
But if I’m passing through
You can hitch a ride

Young Plato
05:30
|
|||
How’s the view there, down in your cave?
Do you really think it’s all that sweet?
Well I’m here to tell you, my friend you could be saved,
Because your dreams were not complete.
It might hurt to know,
But it’s time to go
You might scream and shout,
But you’ll find a way
When voices say
Come on up, Young Plato, and see the ugly light.
You know it’s beautiful, when nothing here seems right.
Your precious innocence, my friend you cannot save,
So kick back, and have a laugh at those folks down in their cave
Those pretty shadows dancing on the wall,
Make you think your path is laid out straight.
So what a nasty surprise to see how far you fall.
Oh your foundations, how they’ll shake.
Your life was such a charm,
You though you could do no harm.
So what a pain to know,
But take a breath,
Let it all flow,
And come on up Young Plato, it’s time to say goodbye
To grenadine and magazines that tell you you’re alright.
I know it's funny watching idiots enjoy,
But take some fucking pride my son, your heart's no more a toy.
The choice is up to you,
To join us if you dare.
You’ll feel a fright,
But only from this height.
Pack your bags, get your things, we’re getting out of this town,
Where people live their dreams in shades.
So close your eyes, to the world that kept you down,
Feel lighter as the sacharrine fades.
And turn your eyes around,
Away from this old ground.
The scholars all await,
So grab your scrolls,
Claim your fate,
And come on up Young Plato, you’ve seen the lovely light.
It didn’t glow from down below, but up here its alright.
You’ll be a scholar and a lover all in one,
'Cause you let you let your dreams hang out to dry up in the sun
